Death Marketing-1BATB ads rejecting the TC law
Violating the tobacco control law, British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) is advertising itself through the United Hospital website (www.uhlbd.com). Following the Smoking and Tobacco Products Usages (Control) Act (Amended in 2013), all forms of direct and indirect commercial activities aiming to increase the tobacco consumption is strictly prohibited and even in the cases of CSR or any other social services, using logo of the company is banned too. Besides, following the Section 5 of the law, a tobacco company cannot publicize itself using any print or electronic media and even on any websites. Despite the legal bindings, the hospital is running the promotion. Death-marketing of the harmful product should be stopped. |
