Death Marketing-1JTI Violating Tobacco Control Law
The Brand Promoters of Japan Tobacco has been promoting its products by distributing leaflets at points-of-sales that is a complete violation of tobacco control law. The punishment for advertising tobacco and tobacco products, under the existing law, is a simple imprisonment or a monetary fine or both. The penalties will be doubled or tripled according for repeated offense. Such activities amid the ongoing pandemic are putting the public in additional risk of covid-19 infection. According to WHO, smokers are more likely to get seriously ill once get infected with Covid-19. So, such promotional activities of JTI must be stopped through proper implementation of tobacco control law. |
