BATB Rewarded Once Again!

In continuation of previous years, the Large Tax-payers Unit (LTU) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has bestowed the recognition of Top Taxpayer on British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB). It is quite concerning that a government body keeps awarding tobacco companies years after years, a measure at odds with the Prime Minister's vision for a tobacco-free Bangladesh. However, what's encouraging is that the Ministry of Industries (MoInd) has declared tobacco companies 'ineligible' for the President's Award for Industrial Development, a measure that has drawn national and international acclaim. So, the other government bodies should also suit and declared tobacco companies ineligible for all such recognition.
