Death Marketing-1JTI Violating TC Law
Japan Tobacco (JTI) is heavily promoting its cigarette brands at points-of-sale, violating the tobacco control law of the country. In addition, as a part of promotional campaign, the Brand Promotion staffs of the company are roaming different assigned areas while wearing t-shirts bearing JTI logo. Notably, the penalty for advertising tobacco products in the existing law is a simple imprisonment not exceeding three months or a monetary fine not exceeding Tk. 100,000 or both. For each repeated violation, the fine doubles or triples accordingly. So, in order to strictly implement tobacco control law, such promotional campaigns must be eliminated immediately. |
