New Investment in Tobacco, Death Toll Will Rise

British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) has declared a massive new investment of BDT 1.5 billion to enhance its productivity which is directly in conflict with the Honorable Prime Minister's vision of a tobacco-free country. Tobacco claims 161,000 lives each year in Bangladesh and causes hundreds of thousands of disabilities. This harmful investment is bound to cause a spike in tobacco-induced deaths and losses. Any investment in tobacco production must be stopped.
