Japan Tobacco's Alluring Promotional Message

Japan Tobacco (JTI) has been promoting one of its cigarette brand via stickers that contain QR code and a text saying 'What's Your Story'. The sole purpose behind launching such a tech-based campaign with flashy colors and alluring texts is to attract the attention of potential young customers and hook them into the addiction of smoking. The existing tobacco control law bans the advertisement and promotion of tobacco products at points of sale and considers violations as punishable offenses. The strict implementation of the law must be ensured to put an end to such advertising and campaigns.
